After seeing the Jonny Cash PBS documentary I was reminded I hadn't yet seen this movie. Starring Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash and Reese Witherspoon as June Carter, this is a really good movie, well written with good acting.  It chronicles Johnny's life in the spotlight.  It begins in childhood on the family farm where daily life was a struggle, briefly touches on the military and then quickly jumps to his first marriage and the start of his music career.  It delves into the alcohol and drug abuse, excesses of the music star lifestyle.  Portrays the early tours with the Carters, Elvis, and Jerry Lee Lewis, which would seem like an unlikely musical mix today.  All the while giving us glimpses at the long and slow boiling love that formed between he and June Carter.  It's a tradegy, a success and love story all in one.  If you haven't seen it yet you should.
