You can have anything you want - if you want it badly enough. You can be anything you want to be, have anything you desire, accomplish anything you set out to accomplish - if you will hold to that desire with singleness of purpose." -- General Robert E. Lee
They're all passing. The greats of my generation anyway. I always knew this day would come. This morning we wake up to the sad news that comedic legend George Carlin died yesterday. It really comes as no great surprise since we've all known he's had serious heart problems for years (decades?) now. But surprise or not, it's not something you're eager to see happen. George WAS the cutting edge of raunchy comedy that inspired a legion of followers. He always called it like he saw it, and the way he saw things was just so damned funny! Thanks George for all of those hard belly laughs. You made life a little more bearable.
The trend continues as Harvey Korman passed yesterday at the age of 81. Best known for always laughing at Tim Conway on the Carol Burnett show, he also starred in many movies, Blazing Saddles among them. I as one of thousands, will always remember Harvey with fondness. As many of these legends begin to reach this age I fear we'll be losing more of them to the ages. How sad...
